I’m Jessica Beals. No, not the actress. That’s Jessica Biel. She married Justin Timberlake. I married that guy… Kevin Beals.
We’re new(ish) homeowners, newlyweds, and puppy parents. Those used be true. Now we’re late-twenty-something new parents with two mutts and a kegerator who, in spite of everything, still try to act like we’re the clueless newlyweds we were five years ago… and I hope we never stop.
Our house is a 1940s bungalow located in Dallas, Texas. It’s no mansion, but what it lacks in space it makes up in character and just-plain-cuteness. When we started looking for our first home in early spring 2011, it was the first home we found. After looking at several others, we decided we were smitten. We made an offer, it was accepted, and April 1, 2011 found us standing on the stoop with keys in hand.
In real life, Kevin and I grew up in small Midwest towns. We love Jesus, Indianapolis Colts football, sushi, and traveling. We’re both engineers (he’s electrical and I’m mechanical) and graduated from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (GO FIGHTIN’ ENGINEERS!!) in Terre Haute, Indiana. When we’re not DIYing on the Little House, you can find us cooking, brewing awesome homebrew, or binge watching British TV.
We’re about to embark on our next big adventure as we welcome our first baby, a little girl, home to the little house. She’s set to arrive sometime in August 2015 and we’re already completely smitten. We can’t wait to meet her!
The Little House gets a lot of its heart from our two furry kiddos. Indiana “Indy” Beals is our middle child. She’s 85 lb. Lab/Great Pyrenees/Something mix that is all love. She loves to swim at the nearby lake. Her favorite treats are remote controls and new underwear. We adopted her from a rescue shelter shortly after we were married.
Her sister, Rosie, is another rescue. Rosie’s much more chill than her sister (usually). She wants nothing more than to have you rub her belly as she stares at you with those great big Coonhound eyes. The story of how Rosie came to be in our family is a great one – ask about it sometime.
We’re excited you’re here to share our journey with us! We’re no experts or professional bloggers, but what we lack in experience, we make up for with
