A Little Year in Review

Aaaand we’re back.

It’s 2012. Can you believe it? It seems like just yesterday that Kevin and I rang in 2011… what a year that was! What did we do?

In February went to my first Mardi Gras in New Orleans! It was crazy, but we were able to take some time out to shop, eat at Morning Call (the best beignets and cafe au lait in NOLA… better than Cafe du Monde) and the ACME Oyster House, and sing along at Howl at the Moon. And no, I did  not earn my beads!

We started our house search in March and quickly fell in love with one house in particular… the Little House! We moved in on April 1… no fooling!

In May my sister threw an amazing bachelorette party for me in one of my favorite places in the world, Memphis! We spent the whole night on Beale Street… appropriate, no?

On June 4, 2011 I married my best friend (cheesy, but true) in a perfect, 100% DIYed garden wedding and became Mrs. Jessica Beals.

First comes love, then comes the honeymoon! Kevin surprised me with our honeymoon to Moorea, French Polynesia, a small island just off of Tahiti. We stayed in a bungalow over the water, scuba dived with 9 ft. lemon sharks, snorkeled, kayaked, hiked, and laid on the beach soaking up the Polynesian sunshine. The first photo is the sunrise looking east from our bungalow our first morning on Moorea.

Shortly after we got back from our honeymoon in FP, we adopted a puppy we named Indiana (and I had a traumatic visit to the salon… my stylist accidentally cut off too much hair). We call her Indy. Today is her 8 month birthday and she weighs in at 76 lbs.

I started LHBH in August of this year. I’m so glad I did, even if I was scared to death at first. I’ve had such a blast writing about our projects and reading all of yours!

We hosted our first Thanksgiving this year for our parents. We spent a month getting the Little House ready. Everything went off without a hitch! The table looked beautiful, the food was delicious, and we loved having our parents come to our home.

We spent Christmas in Indiana with my family, then flew to Florida and rang in 2012 with Kevin’s family at Disney. Like my New Year’s Ears?

We hope you had a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year! We’ll be back tomorrow to share our resolutions, both for us and for LHBH. Excited? I know we are!

What was the most exciting thing to happen to you this year? What are you looking forward to in 2012?

What a great year! I look forward to reading about your projects for 2012. And I’m most excited about our wedding, of course… although I look forward to a few house projects as well!
