A Little House Tour

Today, I’m thankful for The Little House. I still find it hard to believe we’re homeowners at only twenty-something. We’re so blessed to have such a wonderful home to start out lives out together in!

As promised earlier today, here is a little pre-Thanksgiving house tour.

Let’s start in the kitchen, shall we? Nothing much changed in here, but we did sand and oil the butcher block counters, clean out the pantry and fridge, and give all the glass cupboard doors a good washing.

Turning right, you’ll enter the LH dining room, featuring our newly refinished bar with it’s revamped storage space. You’ll also see two new Ikea dining chairs, purchased on sale a while back. What you won’t see are the drop cloth curtains I mentioned making here. We ran out of time and the curtains, sadly, didn’t make the cut.

Continue on through the dining room and you’ll enter the living room. This room saw some mantel decoration, pillow sewing, and ottoman revamping. We also had the chimney sweep out, bought a fireplace screen, and wallpapered the bookcase.

Step over the Indydog-proof baby gate and you’re in our little office-to-be. We painted this room the same Dolphin Fin by Behr that the hall way and living rooms are painted. The carpet isn’t long for this world; we intend to rip it out and replace it with a durable tile soon. We don’t have a lot of furniture in here now, but envision two desks, bookcases, and an armchair or two for reading.

Turn right again and you’re in the (untouched) master bedroom. We’ve not done a single thing to this room: the walls are a muddy, cruddy brown, the duvet is too small for our bed, and the dressers are in dire need of an overhaul. That said, this room will be starring on LHBH before long!

Just down the hall is the teeny (and only) bathroom. We  painted the room a colormatched (and lightened) green this summer. We made curtains, added a hotel curtain rod, and hemmed the shower curtain this fall.

Across the hall is our little laundry nook. We have plans of adding doors, curtains, or something to dress the space up a little. Eventually.

Finally, we have the spare bedroom. Like the master, it is completely untouched. We DID NOT paint that red wall. In fact, there’s already a bucket of primer in the garage with that wall’s name on it.

And there you have it! The entire Little House, all spiffed up for our parent’s arrival! We’ve accomplshed a ton, but still have a ways to go before we can say we’re “done.”

Have a Happy, Safe, Good-Food-Filled Thanksgiving!

Awww, I think your house is the perfect size! It’s going to be so cute when you finish all the bedrooms and that little office.
The kitchen is my favourite room.
